Brooklyn rapper sentenced to 60 years to life for deadly gang ambush shooting

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Two Choo gang members, including Brooklyn rapper Culture Bermudez, known as CoachDaGhost, have been sentenced to decades in prison for a deadly execution-style ambush that left one teen dead and two others seriously wounded in a Canarsie intersection.

Culture Bermudez, 31, was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison, and co-defendant Naquan Pruitt, 30, of Pennsylvania, received a sentence of 25 years to life. Both men were convicted earlier this month on charges including second-degree murder and attempted murder for the March 13, 2021, shooting.

According to trial evidence, the two men were “spinning” through rival Woo gang territory in Brownsville and Canarsie when they spotted three young men—17-year-old Bryan Sanon, and two others aged 19 and 20.
