A virtually unknown socialist State Assemblyman a little over four months ago now has a little over four months to convince voters that he can run the largest city in America. Can Mamdani shift gears from underdog to favorite and win the general election in November, and what does his selection mean in a broader sense for Democrats? Hank Sheinkopf is a long-time Democratic strategist and consultant; he appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program and said that Mamdani’s victory represents a seismic shift in how the Democratic party operates in New York City.
Sheinkopf told host Larry Mendte that age- specifically, youth- Is the new key demographic of choice for the Democratic party. “This is a reflection of the bankruptcy of the Democratic party, that has nothing new to say and has been taken over by socialists, and there are a lot of young people- who have never born a burden, nor paid a price, nor done the dirty work of democracy, nor care to- who have decided they have a due bill, and that someone who was not even born in this country, hasn’t lived here most of his life, has also never paid a price nor born a burden, is the one they need to defend themselves against having to pay the price of democracy.”…
