NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) — A person who was wanted by the New York Police Department was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon after allegedly fleeing from the police on foot.

Norwich police responded to Talman Street to locate the suspect after an initial foot pursuit. According to Connecticut State Police, the person was wanted by NYPD on an arrest warrant for dangerous drugs.
The person was taken into custody after they tried swimming across the Shetucket River away from police, according to CSP. The suspect returned to shore where they were taken into custody and charged with interfering and/or resisting arrest.
