Local News: Final Member of Violent Street Gang Convicted in Brooklyn Federal Court

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN – On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Romeo Gonzalez, the 53rd and final defendant associated with the notorious Bully Gang, was convicted in federal court. This significant ruling was announced in a press release from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, where Gonzalez, 27, pleaded guilty before United States Magistrate Judge Cheryl L. Pollak.

The Bully Gang, a violent street organization based in Bedford-Stuyvesant, has been linked to a range of criminal activities, with its members and associates spanning in age from 27 to 58. While many hail from Brooklyn, others have connections to Maine. Evidence presented during the trials revealed that the gang orchestrated extensive multi-state drug trafficking operations, utilizing numerous stash houses located throughout Maine. The gang was also involved in a conspiracy to bribe prison guards and smuggle drugs into Rikers Island facilities.

The defendants faced a litany of charges, including extortion, racketeering, robbery, arson, and murder. Those convicted of violent crimes are facing severe penalties, with mandatory minimum sentences ranging from five years to 55 years, and some could even receive life imprisonment…
