‘All hell broke loose’: Queens woman’s home flooded after LIRR wall gives way in rainstorm

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Queens woman’s backyard and basement were flooded when a Long Island Rail Road retaining wall gave way during Thursday’s heavy rain.

Deirdre Agapakis, of Bayside, said that since she moved to the home several years ago she has noticed the retaining wall had some cracks in it. It finally gave way as rain hammered NYC on Thursday afternoon.

“Today, all hell broke loose, and the retention wall completely collapsed with the flooding,” she said.

Her backyard is now a “cesspool of debris and water,” and there is an inch or two of water in her basement…
