Grad student sues over ‘violent’ arrest at Columbia University protest: Suit

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – Graduate student Christopher Holmes was sitting on the ground at a protest at Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall when an NYPD officer kicked him in the face, according to a new lawsuit.

He was disoriented and lying on the ground when another officer grabbed his hair and “violently slammed” his face into the ground, the 26-year-old graduate student described in the suit filed last week in Manhattan Supreme Court. His left orbital floor was fractured, he said.
