BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – The NYPD’s quality of life teams are continuing their borough-by-borough expansion.
Q teams are now operating in all Brooklyn precincts after recent rollouts in the Bronx and Manhattan. The NYPD originally launched the pilot Q teams program in six precincts and said it soon saw positive results, from increased non-emergency response times to seizing hundreds of illegal e-bikes, scooters and mopeds.

The program faced pushback from critics, arguing it harkens back to broken windows policing that unfairly targeted people and communities of color. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch responded, saying Q teams are not about cracking down on crime but seek to restore order and improve New Yorkers’ quality of life.
