Yesterday, the 56th Annual African American Day Parade (AADP) took place along Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard in Harlem, showcasing aspects of Black American heritage and culture. With “Education is Our #1 Priority” as this year’s theme, ABC7NY reported, which also livestreamed the event.
The annual parade showcased a vibrant mix of marching bands, floats, and community groups, attracting an estimated crowd of over 900,000, according to Fox 5 New York. Led by prominent figures such as Dr. Tony Allen and Dr. Patricia Ramsey, the event brought together grand marshals and guests to celebrate accomplishments within the African American community. Among the notable leaders of the procession were Eyewitness News anchor Sandra Bookman and community affairs director Dr. Bob Lee.
