Elderly Woman Attacked in Shocking West Village Mugging

A quiet morning in Manhattan’s West Village turned violent Monday when an armed robber targeted an 87-year-old woman in what police are calling a deeply disturbing street mugging. The attack occurred shortly after 9 a.m. along Hudson Street near West 11th Street, an area typically known for its calm, tree-lined blocks and upscale shops.

According to investigators, the elderly victim was walking home from a nearby grocery store when a man approached her from behind. The suspect brandished a small handgun, demanding her purse before forcefully grabbing it and knocking her to the ground.
