The extent of economic deprivation in New York has been revealed in a startling new report, which says that more than 40 per cent of New York City families can’t afford their weekly food costs. The report also showed that one in three adults in NYC doesn’t have enough money to purchase food.
Robin Hood and Columbia University released the Poverty Tracker Report, which surveyed approximately 3,000 households across various demographics and income levels in the city.
“No working family should go hungry in New York City. When nearly 90% of families struggling to afford food have a working adult in the household, we’re not just facing a hunger crisis—we’re facing a crisis of dignity,” said Richard R.
