To continue receiving SNAP benefits beyond three months within a three-year period, adults must follow work rules, according to the USDA.

These new rules, known as the Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD) time limit, have now been implemented by the Trump administration. ABAWD-identified individuals will be required to comply with the ABAWD requirements.
What is an ABAWD?
Under SNAP, individuals classified as ABAWD will now have to meet specific work requirements.
These are adults aged 18 to 64 who do not live with a child under age 14 in their household. They are not pregnant, not caring for someone unable to care for themselves, and do not have any mental or physical barriers to employment.
How do I know if I am an ABAWD?
The identified ABAWD will receive an ABAWD work activity letter from the New York City Human Resources Administration if anyone in your household is subject to ABAWD work rules.
