Multiple arrests made at Chinatown protest, police say

A chaotic scene unfolded in Chinatown on Saturday afternoon as protesters clashed with federal immigration agents and police near Canal Street.

Protesters had gathered outside a parking garage at Centre and Howard streets after getting word that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were inside preparing for a raid.

As federal agents tried to exit in their vehicles, protesters blocked them, forming a barricade with their bodies and garbage bags. The face-off appeared to derail a possible ICE raid nearby…
