Zohran Mamdani’s decision to end the Eric Adams administration’s controversial homeless encampment sweeps will cause a “quality of life nightmare” for New Yorkers, the outgoing mayor and other critics railed Friday.
Adams urged residents to speak up about the upcoming policy change and call on the mayor-elect to stay the course, saying there was “nothing ‘progressive’ about leaving people to freeze in makeshift encampments.”
“Leaving people to suffer in the cold isn’t just neglectful – it’s a disgrace,” Adams said in a social media video.
