EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) – Nurses at Mount Sinai Hospital in East Harlem say they’re working in fear, and they’re demanding the hospital take immediate steps to protect staff and patients following a gun scare just weeks ago.
On Thursday, dozens of nurses and advocates gathered outside the hospital, calling for increased safety measures and accusing Mount Sinai of retaliating against employees who have spoken out.

“We will not rest until this comes to fruition. Because when we fight, we win,” demonstrators chanted during the rally organized by the New York State Nurses Association.
