Special needs student, 14, brutally beaten outside NYC high school: ‘Disturbing’

NEW YORK (PIX11) — A 14-year-old special needs student was viciously attacked by a group of masked suspects outside a Manhattan high school, according to the family and police.

The Brooklyn teen, who declined to have his name published, was ambushed by around five or six males wearing ski masks near the Lower Manhattan Arts Academy on Grand Street in Chinatown at around 3 p.m. on Dec. 15, the boy and police said.

The group brutally punched and kicked the freshman basketball player in the head and body as he was leaving the school. The beating continued as he was lying on the ground, protecting his head with his arms. He said no one intervened to help.

“I hit one of them back, and one hit me from the side. I was backing up and slipped on the curb and fell. They kept attacking me while I was on the ground,” the boy told PIX11 News on Monday…
