NYC residents prepare for massive snowstorm, stock up on supplies

BED-STUY, Brooklyn (PIX11) – Just as the snowflakes started to fall, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for the areas expected to be most affected by the storm.

That includes all five boroughs of New York City. It may just be the biggest snowfall to blanket the city since 2022.

“I’m not prepared for the snow,” Tracy Boyland, a Bed Stuy resident, told PIX11 News. “I love Christmas. It should’ve been here yesterday,” she added.

One of the busiest places in Brooklyn as the snow started to fall was the Home Depot on Nostrand Avenue. Homeowners and building staff members alike were busy stocking up on ice melt, salt and shovels…
