Bojangles Flies Back into NYC with Fresh East Flatbush Location and Ambitious Expansion Plans

The chicken-centered fast-food chain Bojangles is pecking its way back into New York City’s food scene, with a brand-new location set to open in Brooklyn’s East Flatbush neighborhood on January 12. This marks the brand’s first presence in New York City since the 1980s. As AM New York Metro reported, the arrival is the start of a sizable expansion, with Bojangles planning to launch a total of 20 locations over the next decade as part of their growth strategy in the region.

These plans for expansion into the Northeast go hand-in-hand with a 20-unit agreement that promises to bring plenty of Southern comfort food-flavored love to the city. The individual spearheading this growth is owner-operator Habib Hashimi, who also has designs on establishing 50 new restaurants throughout New York City and New Jersey. “Bojangles has always stood out to me – from its delicious chicken, biscuits and breakfast to its incredible franchisee support system,” Hashimi expressed in a statement noted by AM New York Metro. The first Brooklyn venue is located at 5910 Church Ave. and began construction last summer.

The Bojangles restaurant will feature hand-breaded fried chicken, both bone-in and boneless, freshly-baked biscuits, and the chain’s famed all-day breakfast offering, recreating the experience many on the upper East Coast have been missing or have yet to try. As the New York Post notes, CEO of Bojangles, Jose Armario, remarked that it’s a “monumental moment, now that we’re entering the New York Metropolitan area again,” indicating that the company is aware of the anticipation for Southern flavors making their comeback in the city…
