Former Nypd Officer Shot During Hospital Standoff

Officers responded to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, after multiple reports of a violent man armed with a sharp object inside the facility, according to the New York Police Department.

The man, later identified as 62-year-old Michael Lynch of Brooklyn, was a patient at the hospital and had been admitted the day before.

Callers reported that Lynch barricaded himself inside a hospital room with other people and had repeatedly cut himself while attempting to harm others, the NYPD said. Hospital staff told officers that Lynch also threatened to kill them…
