Brooklyn church leader detained by ICE: ‘We have to stand up against this nonsense’

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Brooklyn deacon has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to Councilmember Susan Zhuang.

Sebastian Ordonez, 58, was detained Thursday morning by ICE agents after leaving his Brooklyn apartment building because he lacked legal immigration status, according to Zhuang.

What happens after an ICE arrest?

Ordonez is from Guatemala, but his family and close friends say he has no history of violent crime and has been part of the Brooklyn community for nearly 20 years.
