Death toll rises to 16 amid freezing temperatures in New York City

The amount of outdoor weather-related deaths reported in New York City has climbed to 16, according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Officials say eight of those cases involved hypothermia, but a medical examiner still needs to determine the official cause of death for those individuals.
