Frederick Morillo Chavez, 22, of New York City, and Bernardo Raul Castro Mata, 21, of East Elmhurst, were accused of targeting the woman as she walked through a parking lot near Front Street just after midnight, according to the release.
The victim had just gotten off a bus when the pair approached her from behind on a moped, prosecutors said. After circling back, Castro Mata got off the moped, pointed a gun at the woman, and attempted to steal her bags, which contained items including AirPods, a debit card, and phone chargers, authorities said.
A struggle followed, during which the woman screamed and resisted. Castro Mata initially fled with one bag before returning and grabbing her lunch bag, according to prosecutors. When the woman refused to let go, Castro Mata shot her in the right arm, authorities said…
