Automatic fines set to begin on B68, B60 and M57 bus routes Friday

CITYWIDE – THE METROPOLITAN TRANSIT AUTHORITY ON Wednesday issued a notice that Automated Camera Enforcement fines are set to begin on Friday on the B68, B60 and M57 bus routes. Vehicles caught improperly using busways and bus lanes, blocking bus stops or illegally double parked will receive summonses that start at $50 and escalate to $250 for repeat violators.

Bus routes with automated enforcement on average have increased speeds by 5%, with some corridors seeing gains as high as 30%, according to the authority. The MTA also found that these routes have a 20% reduction in collisions, a 5% to 10% estimated reduction in emissions, and a 40% reduction in blocked bus stops…
