Police arrest 5 men, seize loaded handgun after chase on Taconic State Parkway

EAST FISHKILL — Police arrested five men from Brooklyn on felony weapons charges this weekend after a car chase on the Taconic State Parkway in Dutchess County.

Officers arrested the men after discovering inside the car a loaded Glock handgun attached to a large ammunition-feeding device, State Police said Monday afternoon in a statement. Drum-style magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition are illegal under the state’s Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013, commonly known as the SAFE Act.

The chase began when police attempted a traffic stop around 2:20 a.m. Saturday, near mile marker 24 in the town of Putnam Valley. When the 21-year-old driver did not pull over, officers chased the car to the town of East Fishkill at mile marker 34.5, where the driver stopped…
