Family grieving after mother’s remains found among dozens at unlicensed funeral home

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (WABC) – A New York woman is speaking out after her mother’s body was allegedly among the 13 decomposing bodies and 17 boxes of cremated remains found in a disturbing discovery inside an unlicensed funeral home.

More than two months after her mother’s death, the grieving process has begun anew for Aloma Washington. Her 74-year-old mother, Estella Washington, died Nov. 25, and the memorial services were held at Camelot Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.

The 74-year-old was supposed to be cremated a few days later, but her family was never given the remains.

“He said, ‘I know you’re taking this hard, so if you’re not ready to bring her home yet, I understand.’ He said, ‘Mom will be safe here with me,’” Aloma Washington said…
