Newark Street in Hoboken is getting a bit of a shakeup: La Casa is another restaurant in Hoboken, located at 54 Newark Street, that has announced its closure. The Cuban, Dominican, and Puerto Rican-inspired restaurat closed Saturday, February 14th — but the same owner, Russell Basile, will be reopening Papaya Dog in its place. Basile, a Hoboken BNR, owns several restaurants on the block including La Casa, Basile’s and recently-opened Mexico Tacos.
La Casa shared on its Instagram about the closure on Valentine’s Day, noting that it would be its last day, after a post went up by Instagram account Only in Hoboken:
“Eight years ago La Casa opened its doors with a dream and alot [sic] of Heart! Today, We pause with deep gratitude.
