STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island needed a bit extra help Monday after the winter storm brought significant snowfall to the borough.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Staten Island had seen some of the most significant snowfall in the five boroughs with the Island’s East Shore seeing as much as 2 feet of the white stuff.
The particularly high snowfall total locally prompted the city to deploy 65 emergency Department of Sanitation vehicles, and an increase in NYPD tow unit work to clear stuck cars, Mamdani said.
“Parts of Staten Island are being hit hardest by this winter storm,” the mayor said. “We’re looking at parts of eastern Staten Island, and we see 24 inches [of snow].”…
