A conducting teacher at Bard College, Shutong Li was driving home from rehearsal when one of his tyres went flat. He was changing tyre on the side of the Taconic Parkway when he was struck by a speeding car.
Shutong, 35, died yesterday of his injuries. He leaves a wife, Ruimin, and a baby son, as well as his parents in China.
