Michael Burham Sentenced 25 Years to Life in Prison

Michael Burham, the man who escaped from the Warren County Jail and led authorities on a nine-day manhunt, was sentenced in court on Monday. Burham, who pleaded guilty to the 2023 shooting death of his ex-girlfriend, Kala Hodgkin, in Jamestown, New York, received prison sentences in both Pennsylvania and New York.

In Pennsylvania, Burham was sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison for kidnapping charges. Once he completes his sentence in Pennsylvania, he will be transferred to New York, where he has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison with the possibility of parole. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning they will overlap in duration.

Chautauqua County Judge Foley presided over the New York sentencing, where Burham was given the opportunity to request parole upon his transfer to the state. However, District Attorney Jason Schmidt expressed his hope that Burham will remain incarcerated for the rest of his life.
