STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — While overall crime is down on Staten Island, so too is the number of officers patrolling borough streets.
According to District Attorney Michael E. McMahon, Staten Island has 87 fewer officers compared to last year — over a 12% decrease. In mid-late February 2025, 717 uniformed officers served on Staten Island.
