The Wayne Police Department Special Operations Unit developed information related to drug distribution sometime last year, the department said. Investigators partnered with the New Jersey State Police Strategic Investigations Unit – North and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations – Newark.
The collaborating units conducted a months-long investigation which resulted in identifying multiple suspects, police said. Officers carried out coordinated raids and takedowns at multiple locations in East Orange on Tuesday, Feb. 17, with assistance from NJSP TEAMS, Wayne police said.
During the raids, officers seized approximately 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, 20 bags of heroin, and one ounce of methamphetamine, authorities said. Police also recovered scales, presses, cutting agents, packaging equipment used for drug distribution, and more than $30,000 in suspected drug proceeds authorities said.
