NYPD officer who died in Kuwait supporting Operation Epic Fury brought home in dignified transfer

NEW YORK (PIX11) — The NYPD officer who died as a result of a medical episode in Kuwait while supporting Operation Epic Fury on Friday was returned to the U.S. in a dignified transfer on Monday.

Photos captured the emotional moment 46-year-old Maj. Sorffly Davius, of Cambria Heights, was carried off in a casket draped in the American flag by U.S. military members at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware Monday morning.

A solemn dignified transfer is the process of moving the remains of a fallen military member from an aircraft to an awaiting vehicle, as put by Air Force Mortuary Affairs.
