NYC settles for $17.5M with Sanit worker who lost leg in 2022 Staten Island incident

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Lawyers for Anthony Esposito say he deserves every penny of a $17.5 million settlement the city has agreed to shell out this week, in regard to a 2022 incident in Dongan Hills that cost the former Sanitation worker his leg.

Esposito, then 39, sued the city and a Sanitation truck driver weeks after the incident, claiming negligence and recklessness on the part of the driver.

In 2024, Justice Orlando Marrazzo Jr. determined the defendants were liable as they “had not served any opposition to the motion,” court records indicate…
