The blaze erupted at Engine 79 at 2928 Briggs Ave. and quickly escalated to a three-alarm fire, drawing more than 160 FDNY firefighters and EMS personnel to the scene, according to the FDNY.
Officials said the fire started on the first floor and spread to the apparatus area and up a stairwell, trapping firefighters on the second floor and making it difficult for them to escape.
