STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Staten Island woman has been indicted on hate crime charges after prosecutors say she carried out a series of unprovoked, anti‑Muslim assaults in Brooklyn — including an attack on a 12‑year‑old girl.
The charges against Megan Horne, 34, a resident of Crystal Avenue in Willowbrook, date back to Friday, Jan. 30, when she allegedly committed a series of crimes against three individuals in Bay Ridge.
“This defendant is accused of targeting three people, including a child, in a string of unprovoked assaults allegedly fueled by anti-Muslim bias,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in a release from his office. “No one should be attacked, threatened, or made to fear for their safety because of their faith. We will seek to hold this defendant accountable and will continue working to protect all Brooklyn residents from hate and violence.”…
