Staten Island man charged with hate crimes for Brooklyn subway assault, robbery

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Authorities allege that a 39-year-old man from Staten Island made alarming comments about Iranians, terrorists and Mayor Zohran Mamdani during an alleged hate crime on a subway platform in Brooklyn.

Christopher Nastasa of Timber Ridge Drive in Bay Terrace was arrested on Wednesday for the disturbing incident on March 17 at about 10:40 a.m. at the Ninth Avenue subway station near 39th Street in Brooklyn.
