Pedestrian, 40, killed in crash near Staten Island Mall; driver fled scene, says NYPD

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. β€” A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle near the Staten Island Mall shortly after midnight Monday, police say.

A 911 call made at approximately 12:35 a.m. reported a pedestrian struck near the intersection of Ring Road and Platinum Avenue in New Springville, according to the NYPD and FDNY.

The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder, operated by a 51-year-old male, was traveling southbound on Ring Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, police said…
