New Rendering Revealed for 415 Smith Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Demolition is underway at 415 Smith Street, the site of a four-story residential building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The project is designed by DXA Studio and developed by Tegern Capital, and will yield an undisclosed number of units. Permits were first filed in January for the 63-foot-wide property, which is located between 4th and 5th Streets.

Construction fencing surrounds the current low-rise occupant of the site as crews work to gut the interiors. YIMBY expects the structure to be razed by early summer.

The rendering in the main photo shows a straightforward massing culminating in a central bulkhead. The façade will be composed of red brick with various intricate bond patterns surrounding a grid of pocketed windows. The first story will feature perforated brick walls and raised garden beds flanking the main entrance along the southern half of the ground floor. A garage door will sit to the north. A glass railing is shown lining the edges of the roof for a terrace.
