Historic N.J. theater gets new life as event space: See the first renderings

The historic Loew’s Jersey Theatre in Jersey City is set to be transformed into a modern entertainment venue, with new architectural renderings offering the first look at the planned renovation of the 1929 movie palace.

The Journal Square theater, which sat largely unused for more than four decades, originally opened as one of five opulent “Wonder Theatres” in and around New York City.

The N.J. location will be transformed into a multi-purpose cultural destination capable of hosting between 2,600 and 4,000 guests depending on seating configuration.

The venue is expected to host approximately 150 events annually. Programming will include live music, comedy, touring performances, sporting events and community events…
