Teen With 27-Round Magazine, Loaded Gun Arrested After Route 46 Assault: Cops

Patrol Detective Michael McDermott was patrolling westbound on Route 46 at approximately 3:11 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, when he saw what appeared to be an assault inside a vehicle at a US Fuel station in Ridgefield, Palisades Park Police Chief George Beck said.

As McDermott approached, he detained two suspects, but the vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed, Beck said. Patrolman Salvatore Farnese initiated a brief pursuit before ending it for safety reasons. During a search of the detained 17-year-old, officers recovered a fully loaded 9mm handgun concealed in the suspect’s waistband, according to Beck.

The firearm was equipped with an illegal extended magazine containing 27 rounds, including hollow-point ammunition, according to authorities…
