Off-Duty State Police Investigator Busted After Late-Night Wappinger Fight

An off-duty New York State Police investigator assigned to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in New York City was arrested Thursday night after an alleged domestic incident inside a Wappinger home. Brian D. Huyghue Jr., 28, is charged with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief, according to the agency. He was arraigned in Town of Wappinger Court and released on his own recognizance; a temporary order of protection was issued for the victim and the case remains under investigation.

Troopers from the Wappinger barracks say they were called to a private residence at about 10:24 p.m. The victim told investigators they had been struck and prevented from calling 911, according to a press release from the New York State Police. The release identifies the suspect as Huyghue, an investigator with the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in New York City, and states he was taken into custody and charged with Assault in the third degree and Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree.
