ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The historic Seneca Chief boat arrived Monday at Corn Hill Landing as part of its statewide “Back to Buffalo” voyage.
Rochester residents had the chance to see and tour the replica vessel, which was part of last year’s Erie Canal bicentennial celebrations.
When the Erie Canal opened in 1825, the original Seneca Chief carried New York Gov. DeWitt Clinton across the state, along with a bucket of water from Lake Erie.
