Buffalo’s Finance Commissioner resigns

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo’s Commissioner of Administration and Finance, Jessica Brown, has resigned, the city said Tuesday.

Brown’s resignation is effective Aug. 4, and her last working day was Monday, July 6, the city said. Budget Director Saran Askew will serve as acting commissioner as the administration prepares to announce a new commissioner.

“We thank Commissioner Brown for her service to the City of Buffalo during a period of extraordinary financial uncertainty,” the city said in a statement. “Her tremendous work ethic and commitment to the City was invaluable as we prepared and announced the 2026-2027 Budget and Four-Year Plan. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”…
