Buffalo man convicted for fatal William Street shooting

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was convicted on Wednesday for fatally shooting a man on William Street in April 2025, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said.

Mikel Lowe, 32, was found guilty of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon after a five-day trial. Lowe shot and killed 36-year-old Deval Watkins in a parking lot on the 400 block of William Street near Jefferson Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on April 19, 2025, officials said.

Lowe faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 8. He is being held without bail.
