BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority did not have adequate oversight of lead-based paint in its public housing, according to a new audit report released by the Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The audit report, released publicly on Aug. 20, found that BMHA “did not report three confirmed cases of children with elevated blood levels.”
At the core of the issues raised in the report was how BMHA allegedly handled it, according to HUD’s IG report, which states that BMHA “did not adequately address lead-based paint hazards identified by the environmental investigations of the units where two of the three children with confirmed EBLLs resided.”…
