Buffalo man gets time served for attacking mail carrier

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man got time served and three years of supervised release for attacking a mail carrier on Columbus Avenue last year, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.

Jacob Ortiz, 34, attacked the mail carrier on Sept. 9, 2025. Ortiz lunged at the mail carrier at a home on Columbus, punched him in the face and head, and then chased him as the carrier tried to get away.
