Off-duty sheriff’s deputy in Upstate NY faces DWI charge after crash left man hospitalized

An off-duty Erie County Sheriff’s Office deputy faces a driving while intoxicated charge following a head-on collision in Cheektowaga that left another driver hospitalized.

Christopher D. Imhof, 35, of Cheektowaga, was arraigned before Cheektowaga Town Court Justice John J. Wanat on one count of driving while intoxicated, according to Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane.

Authorities said Imhof was driving eastbound on French Road at approximately 9:12 p.m. on Aug. 21 when he crossed into the westbound lane near Garden Village Drive. The maneuver caused a head-on collision with another vehicle, according to the district attorney’s office…
