Bills might be forced into making a big decision after latest coaching news

As NFL teams keep filling the voids in their coaching staffs entering the 2024 offseason, the Buffalo Bills might be forced into making a big decision themselves that would take some responsibility off of Sean McDermott’s plate.

On Saturday morning, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the Chicago Bears were signing Bills defensive line coach Eric Washington for their defensive coordinator vacancy.

The thing is Washington was also an “assistant head coach” in Buffalo and therefore a second-in-command for McDermott, who was the de-facto defensive coordinator following Leslie Frazier’s departure last year.

With Washington out of the picture, the Bills’ coaching staff might not be done taking hits just yet. Linebackers coach Bobby Babich is quickly rising as one of the top defensive coordinator candidates, having scheduled interviews with three NFL teams.

The Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and Green Bay Packers have all shown interest in the Bills LB coach who’s quickly risen within McDermott’s staff developing guys like Tyrel Dodson and Terrel Bernard as well as working with Matt Milano.
