Buffalo teen charged after shooting himself in leg

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 19-year-old Buffalo man was charged with a felony after accidentally shooting himself and injuring his leg, police said Monday.

Police responded to a shooting call on Custer Street at around 2:15 p.m. and found Jah’zeir Thompson suffering from a gun shot wound. After an investigation, police confirmed that Thompson “unintentionally shot himself in the leg.”

Officers on the scene recovered a Glock 17 pistol, authorities said.

Thompson was charged with one felony count of criminal possession of a firearm.

Police said Thompson was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
