BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The 4Warn weather team reports that the Buffalo area reached 59 degrees Friday, three degrees shy of the record high temperature set back in 1925.
It’s changing weather conditions like this that those in Western New York has learned to take in stride.
“One day it’s snowing, one day it’s raining, one day you’re getting ice cream. You just kind of go with it and roll with the punches,” said Black Rock resident Sean Tulumello.
Ice cream was on the mind of many local individuals and kids Friday as News 4 spoke to a few neighbors who used the excuse of warm weather for a quick treat.
“I mean, what is February? You know, I think any month is a good month for ice cream,” Tulumello said. “We just kind of saw the sun and I just had to get myself a little ice cream for the road.”
“I’m so excited for ice cream and all the ice cream stores to be open. It’s amazing. Ice cream is so good,” said one kid on Friday.
Local parks were also packed with runners, dog walkers, laughing children and parents who were using Fridays higher than normal temperatures to take their kids outside to burn off all the energy they stored up to this point during the winter.
