Khairullah I. Hasein, a 33-year-old delivery driver from Buffalo, has pleaded guilty to a Class “D” felony. Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced the plea on February 6, 2024. Hasein was charged for fleeing the scene of an accident that resulted in death. The incident took place near Highmark Stadium on November 13, 2023.
The victim, 65-year-old William J. Young of Rochester, was found injured on Southwestern Boulevard. He was transported to ECMC by Orchard Park EMS ambulance, where he later died. Hasein’s vehicle, showing front-end damage, was found on Mills Street in Buffalo.
At the time of the incident, Hasein was working as a delivery driver. He hit Young with his vehicle and fled the scene. This led to serious charges against him.
Hasein is due to be sentenced on April 25, 2024. He could face up to seven years in prison. He was released on bail, set at $10,000 cash or bond. Assistant District Attorney Bethany A. Solek of the Vehicular Crimes Bureau prosecuted the case.
